Game Theory
Designing Collaborative Ecosystems
Game theory is an area of study in which the dynamics of systems made up of rational, self-interested individuals may be understood given different scenarios. Autonomous entities, whether artificial agents, human users or even businesses can often be modeled in this way.
These insights are important in analysing and designing systems of interacting entities. The design of human centred applications has to take account of the objectives and interests of the users.
Typical application areas include automating the negotiation of e-commerce interactions, providing a selective regime within artificial agents’ self-interested behaviour will converge to a desired system behaviour, and designing systems which support collaboration between untrusted (self-interested) agents.
