Pervasive eLearning
Project Summary
E-learning aided by advanced computing and communication technologies is one of the fastest growing and most promising markets in the education industry, with a forecast to exceed $300 million by 2006. The popularisation of the Internet and the rapid development of networks (e.g., expansion of broadband networks) have brought e-learning into the realm of pervasive computing, by which learning materials including multimedia and video streamings can be accessed at any time and anywhere from any devices. Computer-based education, i.e., e-learning, offers vast opportunities for self education, continuing education and corporate training. Our research at the frontier of pervasive e-learning focuses particularly on personalised and collaborative services for a very broad mix and wide geographical spread of users. This work is undertaken through international collaboration.
