Viraj Abhayawardhana

Biography

Viraj Abhayawardhana is a Senior Professional Researcher at the Mobility Research Unit of British Telecommunications (BT) plc in UK. He first completed a BSc in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 1998. He then read a PhD at the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, UK in 2003. His dissertation was on the use of OFDM for Broadband Fixed Wireless Access (BFWA) Systems. He worked as a Research Associate from 2003 to 2004 at the same department after completing his PhD. His research was on wireless propagation modelling for BFWA systems. He joined BT in 2004. He is the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) team leader. His current research interests are on WLAN systems, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) service co-ordination and execution.
