Stephen Johnson

Biography

Stephen Johnson joined BT Laboratories in 1989 after graduating with an honours degree in Electronic Communications Engineering from the University of Hull. He spent his first spell at BT researching statistical speech recogntion algorithms as well as developing innovative interactive voice demonstration systems to show how the technology could be exploited. During this period he delivered key algorithms into BT's Callminder service.

After a six year spell working as a software development team leader for both a telecoms network management company and a BT Brightstar spin-out, Venation, Stephen rejoined BT's Mobility Research Centre to investigate context awareness as an enabler for mobile applications and services.

Stephen is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the IET.
