Biography
Roger Payne has worked for BT's research department since 1988, initially focussing on low-cost fibre to the home solutions and high-speed optical transmitters and receivers. He was later part of a team that developed an optical fibre backplane that allows optical routing and wavelength addition/subtraction using 'D' fibre technology.
In the late 90s he worked on novel intuitive interfaces such as intelligent pens, wearable computers and interactive environments.
He now works in the Mobility Research Centre looking at the impact of Pervasive ICT on information architectures
