Complexity Research Team

The increasing complexity of today's wireless networking technologies creates unprecedented challenges for our proper understanding of heterogeneous networks in a seamless and converging world. This includes the need to understand and manage the emergence of interference both in licensed and licence-exempt spectrum.

The main focus of the team is strategic medium-term research with potentially high impact on BT's position in the wireless, mobility and convergence space. Some important research topics and successes include power control algorithms, channel allocation techniques, and access modelling. Other important areas are performance and connectivity in vehicular networks, spectrum management and MIMO systems.

Within the team, extensive expertise from a variety of backgrounds has been brought together to effectively tackle and provide solutions to complex business-critical problems. Part of our work is in the context of academic, industrial and commercial collaborations aimed at supporting the implementation of recent technical achievements as revenue generation services.

All members of the group have post graduate qualifications in their chosen field, and the majority of these are PhD's. Also, some members have appointments at academic institutions were they lecture in the field of their specialities. This enables the team to maintain their position at the cutting edge of the latest techniques in modelling and analysis.
